Wat Tham Mungkornthong, Kanchanaburi

History

Wat Tham Mungkornthong is a cave temple just across the river from Kanchanaburi town.

What to see

The cave is the reason to visit the temple, although it isn't very big. The donation box will be pointed out to you, and you'll have to get down and crawl through a small tunnel to the rear exit. Occasionally, the temple features a performance of a nun floating in a pool of water for tourist groups.

Getting there

The temple is about 7km from the town center and is best visited by motorcycle. Bus No. 8191 runs past the temple from Kanchanaburi every 30 minutes and takes 20 minutes. The fare is 12 baht.
