Wat Tham Khao Pun, Kanchanaburi

History

Wat Tham Khao Pun has been built around the entrance to a cave above the Khwae Noi river.

What to see

The temple has a slightly deserted feel but the cave is well worth seeing. It can be found immediately to the left on entering the temple grounds. A yak (demon) statue points to the entrance. There is a 20-baht "donation" to enter. The road past the cave and through the temple leads to a statue of Phra Sangkachai overlooking the river.

Getting there

The temple is about 6km to the west from the town center and can be reached by bicycle without too much effort.
