Wat Phra Ruang was completely rebuilt 70 years ago.
The assembly hall, with its dramatic lighting, has three Buddha images, the smaller one in the center being made of clay. It also contains two beautiful pulpits from which sermons are given (on the Vessantara Jataka) during the Wetsandon Festival. Beside the main hall is a golden Lanna-style chedi and a small ordination hall, which is normally kept locked to prevent women from inadvertently entering. According to northern tradition, there are some parts of a temple where females are not allowed.
The temple is on Soi Phra Ruang 3, a short walk from Wat Phra Bat Ming Muang.
