Wat Chedi Luang (Temple of the Great Stupa) is one of the major cultural attractions in Chiang Mai city.
The temple dates from 1441.
The remains of the stupa are the main attraction here. The main viharn houses a large Buddha statue known as Phra Chao Attarot, and a small hall at the rear is dedicated to Ajahn Mun Bhuridatta, founder of the Thai forest tradition. The City Pillar is located in the temple grounds.
The temple is in the center of Chiang Mai and walkable from most guesthouses.
