The temple was built by Khunying Chui Wongsarot in 1868.
The interior of Wat Bang Khae Noi's modern viharn is decorated with wall carvings of golden teak depicting episodes from the Buddha's former lives. While the impressive scenes were carved by expert craftsmen from Phetchaburi, the style is a little too modern for some tastes.
The temple can be seen on the regular 5-temple boat tours from Amphawa.
