Wat Amphawan Chetiyaram, Samut Songkhram

History

Wat Chetiyam Amphawan ("temple of pagodas and lush mango orchards"), built by the mother of the queen of King Rama I, now belongs to the Bang Chang family.

What to see

The ordination hall is decorated with vivid murals of folk tales and a royal procession. Beside the ordination hall and behind a statue of King Rama II is a square cloister housing a Khmer-style prang, a reclining Buddha and a variety of other Buddha images. A smaller hall houses a large Buddha footprint.

Getting there

The temple is a short walk from the center of Amphawa.
