Hor Phra Isuan, Nakhon Si Thammarat

The Hor Phra Isuan (Shiva Shrine) is a remnant of the times when the worship of Hindu gods was widespread in the region. It stands next to the Copper Swing (ching cha thong daeng) that was once used in ceremonies to honor Brahman deities.

On display in the hall is a Shiva lingam (symbol of the Brahman god Shiva) in the center, flanked by a bronze Siwa Nattarat (Dancing Shiva) on the right and bronze statues of the Goddess Uma and Phra Phikkhanet (Ganesh) on the left. These images are replicas of the original statues in the Nakhon Si Thammarat National Museum.

The shrine is located on the west side of Ratchadamnoen Road, between the Clock Tower and the City Wall, near Wat Sema Muang.
